Gilles Reckinger has just returned from a week in Calabria. It was raining constantly and many of the tents were washed away. Two weeks ago, a young man died from the cold. Nothing much has changed from last winter, only the ‘houses’ in the forest are getting worse.
A short 50 seconds insight into the daily lives of a group of African migrant workers on a clementine plantation in the town of Rosarno in Calabria. It is 10 in the morning, and they are counting the boxes of clementines they have already picked and which are ready to be taken away. However, no one was bringing new empty boxes, which meant that they have no more work for the rest of the day. They only earned 10-15 Euros instead of 25 – the usual full day wage.
